I started working on cars when I was 16; I was the kid working on teachers’ cars and skipping class to buy and sell cars on Craigslist. I always envisioned myself becoming a shop owner. That was my dream—to run a shop, to help people with their cars, and to use my skills to build something of my own. After high school, I chose to go to college to learn the ins and outs of business and psychology. I was determined to pay off my college expenses without taking on any debt, so as a full-time student, I worked 50+ hour weeks as a ASE certified tech. While my peers were out partying and enjoying their college years, I was under the hood, building a full-time career in automotive repair.
Even though I loved working on cars, I somehow found myself in the corporate world of marketing after college, feeling out of place and bored out of my mind. I sat at a desk, spending tens of thousands dollars on digital advertising and learning how to attract customers on someone else’s dime. Yet, the work felt dull and didn’t satisfy my need to create or problem-solve.
In late 2021, it finally clicked: I didn’t need a physical shop or to follow the traditional route to build a successful business. I had all the tools I needed—my automotive skills and the marketing experience I’d gained. I could combine these to create something even more impactful. Why risk hundreds of thousands of dollars on a shop when I could apply my marketing skills to attract clients directly and run a mobile mechanic business instead? I could work with my hands again, and on my terms!
After much success working for myself, that’s when the idea for Mobile Tech Academy was born. I realized that I wasn’t alone—there are so many other gearheads out there with a passion for cars, but they don’t know how to turn that passion into income. My goal became clear: to empower other mechanics and teach them how to build a successful part-time or full-time business by copy & pasting the strategies I learned along the way.
I immediately began putting my plan into action. I applied everything I’d learned from corporate advertising—lead generation, building a brand, and marketing strategy—but this time, I used those tools to build my own business. I started attracting clients without needing a shop or the massive overhead that came with it. And now, I’ve turned that system into Mobile Tech Academy to help others do the same.
Of course, it wasn’t easy. I had to battle self-doubt—wondering if I was doing the right thing,. There were long hours, plenty of trial and error, and times when things didn’t go as planned. But I kept going because I knew this was what I was meant to do. I wasn’t going to go back to the daily grind working for someone else. I knew there had to be a way to make it work—not just for me, but for others like me who love working on cars but don’t want to deal with the financial burden of a traditional shop
The effort paid off. I built my own book of business and attracted high-quality clients—all without needing an expensive loan to get a physical shop.. My mobile mechanic business thrived, and I realized that I wasn’t the only one who could do this. This led me to create Mobile Tech Academy, where I now help other gearheads turn their passion into profit, just like I did.
